Hello Crafty Friends!
Today Jeanne joins us with her first project of 2018... an adorable Traveler's Notebook.....
Hi Crafty Friends!! Jeanne here sharing with you my very first attempt at making a Travelers' Notebook! I'm pretty excited about sharing it and had lots of fun making it!
I immediately thought of making this when I did my unboxing of this 1st kit of the Year from Aunty Vera's monthly kits. I figured since this month's kit name/theme is "Explore 2018" , I would do this project! I definitely loved the double sided papers in this kit. Which were 12 of American Crafts - Dear Lizzy 'Star Gazer' Collection So I picked out the papers and items from this kit I would be using on this project and leaving me with plenty for more projects this month.
So here is my finished project!! Enjoy!!
I started by looking for a tutorial on YouTube and I did watch a very easy to follow tutorial from Bona "LiveLoveScrap" .
I had purchased the Scotch Self -Seal Laminating Sheets from Target which I found very easy to use. *Note: I now will be purchasing the Scotch Thermal Laminator Machine, since I love making these notebooks!!
The first paper I used on the cover is the "Happy" sheet of paper.
In the inside cover of the base page I adhered a "2018 Calendar" that I was gifted from a swap. I was looking for the Adhesive Label Pockets from the Target Dollar Spot but was unable to find them but did manage to find something similar in my crafty stash. I adhered it sideways as it was too big to adhere it right side up. In this I added some small cut outs from one of the papers from the kit, that I ran through my Xyron sticker machine.
The second paper is called "Cruisin'" , that I selected, I made it as a journaling/doodling notebook insert. I added 15 sheets of printer paper, scored in the center. In between the printer sheets I made a divider using the 3rd paper called "Sun Setting" . With the 4th sheet called "Be Free" I made a double pocket folder insert. . On the back inside cover I added the lined notepad that came with the calendar I used on the inner front cover.
I adhered both calendar and notepad using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.
On the elastic closure I decided I would use one of the Ken Oliver Vintage Compass Charm Embellishment that came in the kit as well. I added some of the Colorful Washi Tape that came in this kit on the 1st page of the printer paper. If I sell this journal I will include a swatch of some of this same washi along with some from my stash. I also used one of the super cute Santoro Gorjuss Large Bows from this kit to make an altered paper clip that matched very well with this paper collection! Lastly I added some Gold thickers from my stash for added embellishing on the cover to go with the theme.
I added extra gold paper clips as well.
I hope that you enjoyed reading the process of how I made the Travelers' Journal and that you feel inspired as well with this kit to make some journals of your own and track all those memories that you experience while on your EXPLORATIONS!!!
