My Island Home - Wendy's Artist Trading Card Holder

ATC HOLDERS

This is a very fast and easy project. I used my the leftover image pieces from the Sweeping Plains Papers to decorate a few Artist Trading Card Holders. Each made holder can store eight ATC's.The base of the holder is made from cardstock I had in my own supplies and the pockets that hold the ATCs, I made from a manilla folder.

The Base

Cut your cardstock to 11" x 3". Then score at 2 1/2", 3 1/4", 7" and 7 3/4"/ Fold on score lines.

The Pockets

Cut your manilla folder to 6" x 4". You will need to cut and make eight pockets. Score with long side up at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2". Then turn once with short side up and score at 1/2". Fold along score lines. Cut the small square off the bottom corner and then cut from 2 3/4 score line to edge, taking off  the long 1/2" panel.

Use your double sided Ranger LetterIT tape and place on the bottom flap and the side flap. Fold over score lines to make your pocket. I used a 1" circle punch to punch out a small slot at the top of each pocket.

When you have made each pocket, I placed a strip of tape down the center back of seven of the pockets and on the eighth pocket, I put tape in a square shape. This will hold the pockets firmer to the base cover. I inked around the edge of each pocket with the Rhubbarb Stalk Memento LUXE ink.

To put the pockets together, you place one on top of the other using the pocket with the squared shaped tape as the bottom pocket. This is taped to the inside of the cover. I then cut out base matting for the front and back of the holder cover and also cut out a decorative image from the Sweeping Plains paper to be put on the base matting.

For a closure I used a self adhesive velcro circle cut in half. Also for something different I sewed a button on one of the top flaps, used with some twine.

Added a decorative piece to the front pocket.

Like a Cat - Sue's Crazy Cats ATCs

Hello Everyone,

I hope this blog finds you well and full of crafting energy.  This project is easy, but a little messy maybe.  Get out some paints, stencils and some stamps.  It doesn’t matter what your topic is you can still follow along and create some fun ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards) to pass on or swap with friends.
I started with the following items.
Some A4 watercolour paper (or a heavy paper)
Dina Wakley paints (Sedona, Tangerine, Lime, Sky & White).
Tim Holtz Crazy Cats stamps
Dylusions – Old is the new black sentiment stamps
Tim Holtz crosses stencil
Dylusions squares small stencil

You will also need some flat medium paint brushes and some sponges.

Firstly paint 3 larger areas of one colour.

Then repeat using the other colours, covering all the white areas.

Using a sponge, a stencil and the first colour stencil on the paint, beginning on the same colour as the paint then moving off and onto another colour.  See the photo below.

Repeat this process using all the colours and the white paint.

Stamp some script or small relevant images using either black ink or similar colours to the paint.
The aim is to cover the paper with lots of layers to give texture and interest.

Cut the A4 painted paper into  9 ATCs  each being 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches.

Stamp your stamp ( I used the Crazy Cats stamp set by Tim Holtz) onto cardstock of your choice. I used white, grey (red/grey Echo ParkPaper) and yellow (yellow/light blue Echo Park Paper).

Glue fussy cut stamped images onto ATCs, trimming where necessary.  Draw a scribbly border around the edge of each card.

Add sentiments or words. I used the Dylusions – Old is the new black sentiment stamps.

Glue onto some recycled cardboard (cereal boxes are great) and then write your name, the date and any other information you wish on the back.

Now you are ready to give away, trade or keep and admire your Artist Trading Cards.

Check out the cards below or my process video.
