My Crafty Friend - Lolly's Book in a Box

Hello Crafty Friends!
What a lovely way to start the week..... with a gorgeous Book in a Box from our Crafty Friend Lolly...

I am fond of boxes -- wooden, chipboard, plastic, or metal.  It doesn't matter.  I'm always fascinated by the possibility of what treasures can be put in a box, and a pretty box is even more intriguing!

In February, one of my design team projects was a metal box which I decorated for Valentine's Day, filled with chocolates, and mailed to a friend.

This time I made a Book in a Box with another metal box, and it is so pretty that I keep picking it up every time I enter the room!   I started with a clean tin box with a lid.

Then I selected papers from the kit to decorate the tin, making the lid paper slightly smaller than the lid.  I also used a section of the narrow ribbon from the kit to put a border around the edge of the lid.

There are some really cute circle images in the stickers, and they are the size for decorating flattened bottle caps.  Once I chose a sticker, I stuck it onto the bottle cap and used Diamond Glaze to give it a nice epoxy-type top.

I also die cut some tiny heart buttons and used Glossy Accents to make them shine.

The hearts and stickers from the kit, and buttons from my stash decorated the rest of the lid.

Then I cut white card stock in 4.75" strips and scored. alternating 3 3/8" sections with 3/8" sections.  This gave me an accordion style but with gussets at each fold.  I rounded the corners, which is a bit tricky with those gussets -- you'll see in the video how I did that.

I put double-sized tape on the bottom and top section.

Then began decorating cards to fit on each section of the accordion.  This was soooo fun!   I decided to only use thick embellishments on every other paper so that top and bottom embellishments wouldn't rub against each other and catch when the accordion shut.  Here are the first two cards:

and the next two:

and the final two:

I secured the finished project into the  bottom and lid of the tin box, and now when it opens, the inside accordions out beautifully!

You can see the whole process HERE.

You need to rush over to Aunty Vera's webite HERE and snag one of these kits.  I mean, right now, my crafty friend!

Thank you for stopping by and having a look!
