Get Out Of The House - Aussie Scrapper 12x12 layout "Covid 19 Testing"

Hi my dear friends,  I am back with my 4th layout for the month and I cannot believe how quickly this month has gone.  I thought I would do my final layout by documenting my sons "COVID testing".  Our current times dictate that if he misses school because he is unwell he must be tested and can only go back to school with a negative reading.  He did get a negative reading but I am sure he quickly worked out that it's really not worth trying to get out of going to school anymore.  Let's just say it was not a pleasant experience and mummy was cranky after losing a morning sitting in a car waiting to be tested.

I had picked my one and only photo of this event and this whole layout is based on the colours in the photo.

I am at the end of my kit now so there was not a lot of choice for my papers and what I had did not work with my photo so this is where we really must get creative.  Part of my chosen products was this gorgeous die from Kaisercraft "Fob Watch" so I die cut a whole heap out of watches.

My next big step and I say big because it took me a while to work out how I was going to arrange these watches on my white cardstock.....

Next, I sprayed some Kaisermist in the colour "aqua" and dried it with my heat gun.

This layout becomes very mixed media focused from now on.  My next step was to add a layer of "Turquoise" Dina Wakely Acrylics paints, followed by a second layer of the colour "Sky" from the same brand.  I used the packaging technique to add the colour.

I loved the colour so far but I wanted to add some texture so I mixed some Liquitex "natural sand" with some Dina Wakely acrylic paint in the colour Lapis and scraped it onto my layout using the Rangers texture tools.

Time to use another of my chosen products and that is the Tim Holtz Stitched layering stencil and do a layer of stencilling.

Liking how this is looking so far but I realised my photo had a lot of black and I wanted to introduce some black into the layout somehow, so I decided to use my new toy from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft and that is my new stamp from Bo Bunny "I heart stamps"

My background is now complete and its time to put this layout together.  I trimmed my background and mounted it on some patterned paper from my stash.  I added some ephemera from the core products from July - Photoplay "living the quarantine life" and I also used one of the stamps from Photoplay's "living the quarantine life" stamp set to add another border.  

Hope you like the end result - its amazing what you can do with a good die, some stamps and an ephemera pack.  The die, stamp set and ephemera pack are all on special for the month of July at Aunty Vera's.  HERE is the link to playland.. Have fun!

Heart of Mine - Donna's Love Grid Board

Here we are with another project for AVSC with the gorgeous Love Notes from Graphic 45..

I adore Graphic 45 papers and accessories.

You are not going to believe it but when I ordered the letter grid board from Aunty Vera, I did not realise just how big it was. It is gorgeous and so much fun to do.. I hope you like it..

So here is what happened... I started to spray paint this board and ran out of paint, I thought ok it's good enough.. I left it outside to dry while I did other things.I hear an almighty clap of thunder and then the rain bucketed down.. I'm sitting at the desk thinking yah water for my tanks and what garden I do have when it dawned on me.. Yep the board was still outside.. I run out in the pouring rain to get it, take it in the studio and it's warped all out of shape.. Oh no !! I thought Aunty Vera is going to kill me.. I let it dry then glued it together with E6000 and placed bull clips all around it and placed something heavy on it.. Did it work? You bet it did lol  (no heads rolling here Aunty Vera Phew!! )..

I cut 20 pieces of paper to fit in the grid board.

I placed these in the squares as shown after inking around them with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

You are not going to believe this either.. I wanted to use the gorgeous Love Hearts stencil I received in the kit and forgot to do it on the paper BEFORE I glued them down. SO you will see very odd shapes indeed as I had to try and squeeze the template in the small areas and spread the Modelling Paste mixed with a little Lava Red Inka Gold. Rustic I will say x

The finished Sections..

I made this heart with 4 circles and a square..

You can actually do this two ways.

1. Cut a 1 3/4 square and four 1 3/4 inch circles. I joined them together as show to create a template.

The second way is to draw a square and trace around a circle (here I used a paint lid)

I then traced it onto good cardstock and inked around the edges as well as the two folds..

Voila it's finished.. Just adhere a little glue under the top folded side (only on the other folded piece as this then gives you a pocket).

Heart of Mine - Donna's Love Cards

Hi all,

I just love how these cards turned out .

They fit in the Card Folder I created for AVSC..

(well four do since I made them too bulky lol)

I stamped the large butterfly six times on the gorgeous paper and fussy cut them out..

I thought they looked a little plain so using Abandoned Coral Distress Ink I stamped a little of a word on the wings.

I cut 3 cream and 3 black cards at 8 inches x 4 1/4 inches, score in half.

For the black cards I cut 3 cream mats and 3 black mats for the cream cards. 

They measure at 3 3/4 inches x 4 inches.

I cut 6 mats from the gorgeous paper at 3 1/2 inches x 3 3/4 inches.

Card 1. A piece of lace, 3 pearls, some dyed seam binding and chipboard and the card is done.

Inside all the cards I placed a strip of patterned paper.

Card 2. I didn't want to cover the quote so how simple is this..

Card 3. A piece of lace, some die cut music notes and a chipboard butterfly and voila 

the card is done.

Card 4. Using chipboard on all the cards and the fussy cut butterfly ties all the cards together.

Card 5. How cute these cards are I think.

Card 6. The photo does not do this card justice, it is my favourite to be honest..

I created envelopes to go with the cards and thought why not show you how to make ones that you might already own.

I sealed the envelopes shut and cut at 4 1/4 inches  

Note : I must have thought I was left handed because when you turn these around then that is how you open them lol..  SO cut from the front on the right hand side. . 

Cut six pieces of paper at 2 1/4 inches x the length of your envelope. Score at 3/4 inches and punch two corners. Again NOTE: the pattern of the paper and the side..

Adhere to the envelopes as shown on the front.

Beautiful Day - Wendy's Easy Ephemera and Faux Stamps

Easy Ephemera and Faux Stamps

What a better way to add to your own supplies by handmaking some ephemera. It doesn't need to be intense and send you into a tizzie!..make it simple, easy and fun by buying yourself  the Kaisercraft Happy Life Die/stamp set and a sheet of the Maggie Holmes Heritage POSTMARKED patterned paper and also the Kaisercraft DIY Flora Daisy Die then use your imagination...stamped images make wonderful ephemera especially if the person you are sending it to doesn't have the stamp set you have...and cutting up an already beautiful patterned paper full of stamps makes a wonderful start to making some faux stamps. Then making some beautiful flowers to pop into a Happy Mail to send to a special someone!

This is on my table right now. It may look like a mess but in reality it is a scrumptious display of handmade ephemera...

This scrumptiousness includes stamped images and sayings from Kaisercraft DIY Happy Life Die/stamp set, then cut from the matching dies.

...and what I'm going to show you now is just how easy it is to cut up the Maggie Holmes Postmarked patterned paper and make some faux stamps.

The patterned paper is 'chock a block' full of stamp images.

I cut out a few of the stamp images and then inked around the edges with a vintage sepia ink (my supplies).

I then glued each stamp onto a sheet of craft paper using art glitter glue.

Once the stamps were glued down, I used some zig-zag scissors and cut round each individual stamp, leaving a small border.

I then inked around the edge once again.

They started to look quite vintage by now, which is what I wanted.

To make them look as if they had already been through the post, I used a stamp from the Kaisercraft DIY Happy Life set which had a registered post mark image and stamped it on either the top or bottom of the faux stamp. I covered the top of the stamp with masking tape and removed the masking tape before stamping. This stops the ink from getting on the full stamp and keeps it to the part you want to stamp.

They really turned out to be quite vintage looking and would look great added to one of your vintage styled junk journals.

There are so many stamp images on the Maggie Holmes Heritage Postmarked paper I'm sure you are going to have hours of fun making some faux stamps to send out in happy mail.
