Making Daisy Chains - Tina's Craft Room Banner

Hello Crafty Friends!
Have you been spring cleaning your craft rooms? Clearing.... re-arranging... finding long forgotten crafty bits - that's half the fun right? And today Tina has a gorgeous banner that will inspire you and make your crafty space all the more special.....

Hello everyone, this month my projects have been about creating storage solutions for my craft room.
Today I have a decorative project. I wanted to make a craft room banner to tie in the colours and papers from the kit with the storage projects.

I started by cutting my banner from cereal boxes in different shapes, using banner and tag dies.

Next, I cut out the pieces in the papers from the kit and some matching paper from my stash. I glued them onto the base pieces.

I used chipboard letters that I painted in Kaisercraft paint - Sea Breeze. Once they were dry, I added Glossy Accents to the letters.

Then I decorated each piece.
For the first one I cut out the little bird and placed it on foam tape. I used some of the stickers from the kit as well as some of the ribbon and one of the cute little charms.

Here I used more of the stickers and the stamp that I coloured using Distress Oxides.

Thank you Suzanne Johnston for the lovely pink flower, which went perfectly with the papers from the kit. I used more of the ribbon and another charm.

Finally, I added some green ribbon to hang my banner.

I hope you have all enjoyed my month of craft room projects.
Thank you and Happy Crafting.

Making Daisy Chains - Tina's Craft Room Organiser No 3. - Memory Box

Hello Crafty Friends!
Wow! Tina has been creating such gorgeous craft organising projects this month...... you'd never want to buy 'shop bought' storage again!! Her storage box today can be used for so many things (not necessarily craft)...... I LOVE it!!!

Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying the Spring weather and the wonderful projects the team at Aunty Vera Scrap And Craft have produced this month.
This month I wanted to focus organisation and storage, and today I have a little project for my youngest daughter. Isabella wanted a box of some sort to store her photos and small mementos from school camps, to sleepovers with her best friends, so again another project that went from the craft room to my daughter's room.
Here I have made a storage box with a lid to keep all her keepsakes.

I started by cutting the box in chipboard. The bottom half  was made first.

I used masking tape to join all my pieces together. This works just as good as my strips of paper I used in my previous two projects. First I placed masking tape on the bottom of the box piece.

I then added the front and back piece and smoothed it down well.

Then I added the tape to the two side pieces.

Adding them together, and securing the sides temporarily with a small amount of tape so I can make sure it all fits in together properly.

The lid is made the same way, with these measurements.

Here is the lid and box ready to be taped all up.

Once I am happy with the box I tape up one side at a time remembering to remove the small piece of
tape. The tape is cut slightly longer on both ends so I can cut it in the middle and fold over the edges. Then I can tape the inside and all the outside edges.
For stability, I added four pieces of chipboard on the inside of the base, half the height of the box.

Once the box is all taped up I painted all the edges using Kaisercraft Paint - Pretty Pink.

I then added some of the American Crafts - Butterfly Ribbon from the kit on the inside lid and base sides to hold the lid in place when it is open. I then decorated it with the beautiful Echo Park - Hello Spring papers from the kit. Starting with the inside ( make sure to leave the back inside piece until after adding the hinges). I just love this paper, I added one of the cut-aparts on the inside lid.

The outside I used a yellow cardstock with the Papers from the kit and then I added my hinges. I marked them in place and glued them down before adding the screws. ( the screws were too long so they had to be cut down to size so they would not poke through the inside of the box.)

I then added some little wooden drawer knobs to the base for the feet.

.
Now I can cover the inside back piece.

I decorated the front of the box with some matching cardstock from my collection and some of the stickers from the kit. The flowers are also from the kit, which I layered on top of each other and added a few extra petals from my own collection.
I left the top of the box for my daughter to decorate, and the little box is now finished.

I hope you have enjoyed my project.
Thank you and Happy Crafting.

Making Daisy Chains - Tina's Craft Room Organiser - No 2

Hello Crafty Friends!
Tina is back today with another craft room organisation project - and this one is genius! Love love LOvE her marker tower!! I NEED this!!!

Welcome back everyone. This month I am all about the craft room and today, I have a really simple but great storage solution for my markers. I currently keep my markers in metal tins, so I wanted to create something that would fit nicely on my desk shelves. I also wanted something that would easily display the colours without having to dig into my tins for them.

First cut the base from chipboard at 12'' x 6'', the second base piece at 8'' x 6'', and the third which will be the top piece at 4'' x 6''.

I painted these on both sides in Little Birdie Chalk paint Sailing Sky and then added some kaisercraft  cardstock - Duck Egg, on one side of the pieces ( you don't need to add the cardstock, I just prefer to add it).

Next I cut out what will be the shelves. Cut six pieces of chipboard at 8'' x 6'' and score with a craft knife at 4'' down the middle, but only slightly cutting into the chipboard.

I used the same method that I used for my tag organiser to join all the pieces together by cutting 1'' strips in white cardstock, scoring down the middle and burnishing well.

Cut the strips at 6'' at a slight angle on both sides and glue to the inside of three of the shelving pieces. Careful to line them up to the edge. I then painted the inside in the same colour as the base pieces.

Once the painted pieces are dry, I glued them down on to the large 12'' x 6'' base. I started on the outer edge first, then 4'' in and glued that down.

I then added the next two pieces.

Afterwards, I took the second base piece 8'' x 6'' and added two shelving pieces in the same way, but only two of them, again starting from the outer edge in at 4''.Then add the second piece in the same way. The top piece is just one triangle piece from edge to edge on the 4'' x 6'' piece. I added the paper strips to the top raw edges and then painted them.

Taking the two shelf piece, I added strips to the bottom sides and painted them also.

I glued this section onto the bottom section with the strips and then I did the same to the single top piece.

I traced the whole piece on chipboard, then cut it out, painted, and adhered to the back.
Now its ready to decorate. I cut out two pieces of the same Kaisercraft cardstock that I used earlier, at just under 6'' x 12'' and two pieces of the patterned paper from the kit (which I cut slightly smaller). I layered them and glued to the two sides.

I used some of the papers from the kit and some of  the flowers to decorate the sides. The other flowers are from the lovely Suzanne Johnston (and they are stunning). The leaves are cut using the Tim Holtz - Garden Greens die. I also used some papers and stickers that came out of the May kit, which I thought worked well with this project.

And now my Organiser is ready for the markers.

The organiser has since moved to my daughters room (she kept telling me how she would love one for her markers :)).
I hope you enjoyed this project .
Thank you and Happy Crafting

Making Daisy Chains - Tina's Craft Room Organizer - No 1

Hello Crafty Friends!
I have to say storage solutions is my big weakness! I am always trying to come up with better ways of storing and displaying my craft goodies..... kitchen and baking toys...... well ANYTHING really! So imagine my delight when I found out that Tina is spending this month creating DIY Craft Room Storage..... WOW!
Today - a beautiful organizer that you'll totally want to make too!!

Hello everyone
With the end of winter and beginning of spring upon us, the weather has been glorious and that always makes me want to clean and reorganise the house. I thought my craft room needed some organising and the September Kit is perfect with what I like to call Happy Colours.
This month I hope to bring ideas on brightening up and organising your craft space and first up I have an organiser that I made specifically for my tags as I make lots and lots of them and I wanted easy access to them as needed, but you can use this for anything.

I used chipboard for the structure and cut my pieces as shown in the picture below. The front and back pieces are cut slightly less than 4 1/2 ''. I have shown this on white paper (because I forgot to put my measurements on the chipboard :)).

Then I cut strips from white cardstock 1'' wide x 9'' long, scored at 1/2'' and I folded these making sure to burnish well.

These strips are used to join my pieces of the organiser together. I glued one to the bottom of each of my sides and to the front and back base.

This is what the other side should look like.

Line up the sides to the base and glue in place, the sides should sit beside the base not on top.

Add the front and back pieces and these should sit on top of the base ( that's why they were cut slightly smaller to line up with the top of the sides). Cut the remaining strips to size and glue on to the rest of the organiser on all sides.

I painted all the edges with white Gesso and then with Kaisercraft - Spearmint paint.

I loved the Spring Flowers 12x12 sheet from the kit so I had to use this to cover my organiser. I cut firstly my pieces in Kaisercraft Cardstock Sea Foam 1/8'' smaller and I cut two of each piece for the inside and outside of the organise. The patterned paper is cut 1/8'' smaller than the Kaisercraft paper and only one of each to cover the outside only.

I used Tim Holtz Idea-ology Box Feet which I completely painted in Little Birdie Chalk Paint - Sailing Sky. Once this was dry I used warm water and washed away some of the paint. Then I rubbed a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the feet and glued them to the organiser.

Because I am using this for my tags I wanted to add dividers so I can have my tag bases in one section, unfinished tags in another and a place for finished tags.
I cut two pieces of chipboard and two pieces of the same Kaisercraft cardstock that I used earlier. The cardstock needs to be larger than the chipboard to be able to cover it.

I divided my organiser equally and glued the dividers into place and then covered with another piece of cardstock.

I finally added one of the stickers from the kit to finish it off.
Now my Little organiser is ready to use.

I hope you enjoyed this project and please join me next time as I tackle a better storage for all my markers, as you can see below they are in desperate need of organisation.

Thank you and happy crafting.
