Trick or Treat - Suzanne's Halloween Decor Project

Hello Crafty Friends and BOOOOOO!!!!! Happy Friday the 13th!!

Join Suzanne today as she creates an awesomely spooky Halloween decor piece. And read on!! You have a chance to win all the pieces to set up your own BOO decoration.....

The October kit from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft is spookily awesome.  Its called 'Trick or Treat' and for me it's been an absolute TREAT to craft with.  I have never crafted Halloween before, so I was very excited to begin.

For this project, I used some of the lovely papers from My Minds Eye called Trick or Treat.  I started out with the word BOO made from particle board and a particleboard base that I have had in my stash for a long time to make a home décor piece with a spooky feel. And just to make this even more fun, we are having a give away.   You have the chance to win all of the elements I made in this project, so keep reading!

particle board letters and a base board.  The letter are 6 inches high and flat on the bottom.
I painted the letters and the board for the bottom with black gesso

Cover the letter with some of the papers from the kit.   I used pva glue to stick the paper onto the letters.

When the glue was dry, I removed the excess paper with an emery board.

Then, I applied black distress ink around all edges of the paper.

You can see a video of how I covered these letters with the patterned papers HERE.

I covered the board with some very loosely woven material that is very dark grey.

I added some clear spider web and spider stickers to the B

I used the gorgeous ghost from the pins from My Minds Eye from the October kit.

I removed the pin back before adding it to the B with double sided foam tape

I die cut  the scarecrow several times to use behind the first O

I glued two scarecrows together and at the bottom I separated the grass tufts so that it would stand by itself

I used some 'spider web' behind the second O so that I could place a spider in the web.

I painted a coffin from my stash with black gesso and added some die cut pieces from the ephemera pack that is in the October kit.

I shaped a tombstone from air dry clay.  When it was dry I added some black acrylic paint then wiped most of it off so that it looked like concrete.

I die cut a set of hands then made a mound of hot glue for the tombstone and hands to sit on and then added art stones before the glue dried.  I then painted it with black gesso

You can see a video of how I made this tombstone HERE.

I made a tree from florists wire and covered it with masking tape before painting it with black gesso.

I made a mound of hot glue on some wax paper for the tree to sit in

I had to make several layers of glue to make to mound high enough for my tree, letting it cool between layers

On the last layer I placed the tree

Then painted the base black

You can see a video of how I made this tree HERE.

I had a haunted house cut out from my stash that I also created a base of hot glue for and added art stones before painting black

I added a black bird to the branches of the tree

The haunted house, scarecrow and coffin

the finished letters

I then placed all the elements onto the board using some E6000 and hot glue.  I also added some jack-o-lanterns and skull and bones and extra spiders

Here are some close up pictures

I hope you enjoyed having a look at my spooky décor piece.  It was so much fun to do and I can't wait to do more Halloween crafting, so stay tuned for more spooktacular projects for Halloween month.
