On Such a Winter's Day - Tina's Victorian Style Christmas Ornaments.

Hello Crafty Friends!
I hope you had a go at creating Tina's frame ornaments last week. Today Tina shares another set of beautiful Victorian inspired Christmas ornaments..... these will look so beautiful on your tree. Why would you ever buy 'shop' ornaments??

Hello everyone. Today I have another set of Christmas ornaments to share with you. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved the Victorian era, (Gone With the Wind is one of my favorite movies). Our Christmas is inspired by my love for this era and every year I make a few ornaments to add to our tree. The paper collection this month is perfect for my Christmas ornaments. I hope I can inspire you to make these for your tree.

I started by cutting the frame using the Graphic 45 Staples - Die Set - Square Tag and Clock. For each ornament, I cut two in a white metallic heavy weight cardstock for the top and bottom layer. I also cut two pieces for the inner layers from the paper pad shown below. The papers are really thick which will help strengthen the delicate frame.

Carefully line up glue the layers onto each other and hold in place with clips.

While the frame is drying I cut the images from the Authentique - Solitude - Solitude Eight - 12 x 12 paper from a circle die that is slightly larger than the inner circle piece from the frame die.
I also cut three pieces in the white paper pad.

Glue the pieces onto each other.

When the frame piece is dry, I applied Ranger - Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and sprinkled
Tim Holtz - Distress Glitter - Clear Rock Candy  and set it with my heat tool.

Glue the frame onto the image.

Add some foam tape to the back circles.

For the base, I cut three pieces using a decorative scalloped oval die. For each ornament I cut two pieces in the white metallic cardstock and one piece in the paper pad.

Layer the pieces and glue. On the top and bottom of the base piece I brushed on Gel Medium and sprinkled with Twinklets Diamond Dust.

Stick the top (which had the foam tape) onto the base.

To decorate my ornaments I cut out some of the pieces from the Sizzix Thinlits Die - Festive Greens.

The poinsettia is finished off with a pearl bead from my stash and more Diamond Dust.

To hang the ornament I used cream ribbon and bows made with the  Zutter - Bow - it - All.

To make the bead dangle I use invisible thread but for the purpose of this tutorial I have used white cotton.
Start by knotting the end of the thread. Push the needle in between the layers of the frame.

Pull the thread all the way and loop it in to itself.

I threaded the beads in the order I was happy with.

I then added a small seed bead and passed the needle back up all the beads.

Carefully pull the thread tight, make another loop.

I added a second dangle the same way as the first. When I finished, I pushed the needle back through the layers and looped it into a knot. I cut off the excess leaving a small tail which I glued to the base and covered it with a small flower I had made using a flower punch.

And my Victorian inspired ornaments are complete.
