I wanted to show you all four projects I created for AVSC as part of her Creative Team...
I adored creating this month...
Firstly I did a swinging photo frame which I can swap out when I want to.
I then made a card folder/ holder/ pouch with a shaker front and it just came together beautifully..
Inside the holder which holds four bulky cards and envelopes or six flatter cards and envelopes..
All six cards together and the envelopes.
The Grid Board... I just totally adore this and will be hanging this up on my wall.. I am going to try and get a better photo as this does not do it justice at all..
All four projects together..
How totally gorgeous is the Graphic 45 papers... I really hope you enjoyed this month's projects and created along with me..
Oh holy moly, how fast has February gone??? My last layout for February and what a month. February has thrown a lot of challenges at me but I survived thanks to this wonderful hobby of mine that keeps me from going insane. It's my relaxation time and my therapy.
Vera threw me a great challenge with the beautiful papers from Graphic 45 "Love Notes collection". When I first saw these I panicked as I thought they were too romantic for my taste but in the end, I love the layouts I created and it proves that you can do a lot with papers to make them your own.
For my fourth layout, I decided I wanted to document the couple who gave me life and who guided me my whole life to become the woman that I am today. Today, I will be scrapping a photo of my parents.
I chose this paper for my background called "love notes"
To help my photo stand out, I got some gesso out and I added some water to the gesso and I painted some gesso to the centre of the paper. This helped to tone down and soften the look of his beautiful paper. I took a stencil from my stash and I used my chosen product "Inka Gold" the colour is called "Rosequartz"
My next step was to work on the top right corner and I had the idea to do some paper weaving. The inspiration for the paper weaving came from the paper "Romantic Rhapsody" which has all these lovely red and creme strips. I cut six different strips and did some paper weaving.
a
Time to matt my photo and I chose the paper "floral symphony"
This layout came together very quickly and for my final steps, I used what was left of my scraps from this collection. I cut some papers from the following papers: Melodic Missives, Musical Masterpiece and Romantic Rhapsodoy. I also used another of my chosen products a die from Kaisercraft named "Love You Most."
I worked on my top right corner by glueing down my paper weaving strips and I also used one of the chipboard from the chipboard collection of "Love Notes"
A last-minute decision was to trim my layout, distress the edges and then adhere the whole layout to the paper "Poetic Postage". Hope you like the finished layout.
I
have pulled out my Graphic 45 "Love Notes" paper scraps and stickers,
plus my other Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft goodies for February to begin
making the embellishments for my Wedding Junk Journal. Keep reading to
the end to see a flip-through of the completed journal!
First I cut a large tag from the "Musical Masterpiece" paper. To embellish
this I decided on one of the Nested Stitched Scalloped Heart die-cuts,
some old book paper and a black photo mat cut from my stash of
cardstock. I inked all edges with "Vintage Photo" distress ink.
Some of my second-hand lace was added to the bottom front of the
tag, overhanging just a little so you can see a peek of it from the
back. Another small piece was sewn on as a tag topper.
The photo mat was placed on the back of the tag with double-sided
tape and vintage book paper was adhered to the heart as a writing spot.
The heart was then stuck down using double-sided tape again, leaving
the top unstuck so a photo can be slipped underneath.
Here is a process video on the tag:
Next
I decided to make an altered paperclip. I chose three of the "Nesting
Stitched Scalloped" die-cut hearts and used two even sized ones - one
was cut from plain red card stock from my stash and I slipped a large
gold paperclip over this, and the other I glued atop the first to create
the base of my paperclip embellishment. I then placed a smaller
die-cut heart on the front, added some black lace, a punched heart and a
lovely saying ("Let me call you Sweetheart") from the "Love Notes"
papers. I slipped a piece of black eyelash trim up under the paperclip
at the back and tied a knot in this - which I added a little glue to as
it has a tendency to come undone! All paper pieces were edged with
distress ink.
Process video of the paperclip being made:
I
wanted to make a small booklet to slip in under a belly-band I created
previously, so I used the off-cut of a manila folder to freehand draw a
love heart that I could fold out to see what it looked like opened. I
used this as a template to trace the outline onto a folded piece of
"Love Notes" paper. This made a gorgeous cover for my booklet.
I
used the same technique to cut some pieces of tea-dyed paper and music
paper, these were cut just a little smaller to fit inside the cover
neatly. I grabbed a die-cut music paper heart to add a cute touch to the
middle of the booklet.
I
inked around the edges of all pieces then used my sewing machine and
black thread to sew the page together down the center fold to create the
book.
The
final touch was to glue some black lace folded over the spine to add
some flair and cover the stitching. This has created much more room for
journalling, or little love notes 😉.
I
decided I would use two of the larger die-cut hearts as tuck spots on a
journal page so I inked around these and stuck them down with glue so
that the tops were open and ephemera can be slid in behind. I found
this beautiful die-cut tag that someone had gifted me and used a sticker
from the "Love Notes" Stickers pack to embellish it, and another
sticker for the bottom border. Some pianola roll paper was placed on
the back of the tag as a writing spot.
A simple, yet effective and beautiful place to hold more papers, photos, notes or tags.
Process video on these here:
I
found the perfect page for my paperclip but it needed something tucked
underneath. I scrounged around and found a blank craft envelope and
used a border sticker and quote sticker from the Graphic 45 "Love Notes"
sticker sheets. The quote sticker was put onto one of the die-cut
shapes. I added a stamp cut from the Poetic Postage paper and finished it
all off with a postmark stamp.
Process video here:
It
was so much fun making all of these embellishments to fill my journal
with and now to finish the final touches ready for a flip-through of my
completed wedding journal!
Here is the final flip-through of this beautiful junk journal. I cannot wait to give it to my friends!
Here we are with another project for AVSC with the gorgeous Love Notes from Graphic 45..
I adore Graphic 45 papers and accessories.
You are not going to believe it but when I ordered the letter grid board from Aunty Vera, I did not realise just how big it was. It is gorgeous and so much fun to do.. I hope you like it..
So here is what happened... I started to spray paint this board and ran out of paint, I thought ok it's good enough.. I left it outside to dry while I did other things.I hear an almighty clap of thunder and then the rain bucketed down.. I'm sitting at the desk thinking yah water for my tanks and what garden I do have when it dawned on me.. Yep the board was still outside.. I run out in the pouring rain to get it, take it in the studio and it's warped all out of shape.. Oh no !! I thought Aunty Vera is going to kill me.. I let it dry then glued it together with E6000 and placed bull clips all around it and placed something heavy on it.. Did it work? You bet it did lol (no heads rolling here Aunty Vera Phew!! )..
I cut 20 pieces of paper to fit in the grid board.
I placed these in the squares as shown after inking around them with Tea Dye Distress Ink.
You are not going to believe this either.. I wanted to use the gorgeous Love Hearts stencil I received in the kit and forgot to do it on the paper BEFORE I glued them down. SO you will see very odd shapes indeed as I had to try and squeeze the template in the small areas and spread the Modelling Paste mixed with a little Lava Red Inka Gold. Rustic I will say x
You can just see the hearts under the lace in this photo.
The finished Sections..
I made this heart with 4 circles and a square..
You can actually do this two ways.
1. Cut a 1 3/4 square and four 1 3/4 inch circles. I joined them together as show to create a template.
The second way is to draw a square and trace around a circle (here I used a paint lid)
I then traced it onto good cardstock and inked around the edges as well as the two folds..
Voila it's finished.. Just adhere a little glue under the top folded side (only on the other folded piece as this then gives you a pocket).
The Finished Grid Board with a border on the bottom and punched hearts over the board..
Check out my blog for all the individual squares up close.. I loved creating this and hope you sincerely give it a go with either these papers or from your stash. And don't forget Aunty Vera has everything in our Kits on sale..
Greetings everyone and what a whirlwind it has been. I finally got around to doing some scrapping as I needed some me time. When I created this layout we were all confined to the house. It had been rainy for days and finally, our rivers, dams and creeks broke and we were flooded in. Nowhere to go and some great family times were had. Now let's get to this layout I created:
I started like I usually do by choosing my photo and I must admit I did struggle. These beautiful papers from the Graphic 45 "Love Notes" collection are very lovey-dovey and I am not a lovey-dovey sort of girl but always rising to the challenge I do love the layout I created.
I chose this gorgeous paper named "Standing Ovation" as my background paper.
After staring at the paper for a very long time, inspiration hits and I take a piece of white cardstock, I cut a circle in the centre and I will use this paper as a mask.
I used some white gesso so that I had a nice toned down area for my photo to stand out, and then I took some Heidi Swapp spray in the colour Pink and I did some splatters and here is what it looks like so far:
Since the photo is of my precious girl lying on her daddy's tummy, I wanted to soften things up a bit. I found a stencil in my stash that had some lovely small flowers and I did some stencilling using my chosen product for the month of Feb. I love Inka Gold for stencilling and this month the colour I chose is called "Rosenquartz".
I decided, I wanted a nice love heart for this layout but unfortunately, I could not find exactly what I was looking for, so I made my own. Using an old heart die I cut out three love hearts. One heart from a piece of acetate paper, one heart from a scrap piece of cardstock which I later inked with some distress oxide in the colour "white Linen" and my 3rd heart I cut from my leftover paper from Graphic 45 called "Musical Masterpiece"
I glued the acetate heart to the back of the red heart and then I used some thin mounting tape all along the perimeter of the acetate. I sprinkled some Nuvo Confetti "Red Carpet Circle" another of my chosen products.
Time to finish this shaker. I took my other heart that I made from the white cardstock and stuck it down making sure there were no gaps for the sequins to escape.
I was not liking my bold white circle so much and after some consideration, I decided that some girly pink lace was needed. I roughly worked out where my photo and heart were going to go and then I glued down some pretty lace from my stash.
I have a tendency to matt my layouts and my photos in the same paper, I believe it adds a sense of cohesiveness. In the end I chose the paper named "Melodic Missives and I gutted the centre so that I could matt my photo.
Once I matted my photo, I found a piece of chipboard from my stash with the word "love", I added some embossing powder and my final step was to adhere everything down. I hope you like the final layout as much as I do.
The products used on this layout can be purchased at Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft and for the month of February, they are on special, so spoil yourself and do some shopping...
