Coffee & Friends - Sarah's Simple and Fun Coffee Cards

Hello Crafty Friends!
Welcome to our final Coffee & friends project!
The Team has done such a fabulous job this past month.... I hope you have been inspired to create your own coffee and tea themed goodies!
Today Sarah show us a great idea for using up the leftover bits and pieces from your kit....... some quick coffee and tea cards that your caffeine friends are going to love!

Hello friends! I've had so much fun with the June Kit this month, and hope you have too! To finish the month off I decided to make some simple cards to give to friends. I started with these manila card bases that match the kit quite well.

For the first card I used one of the large stickers from the Coffee & Tea Collection Kit as a base.

I added some dimension by placing this gorgeous prima flower in the corner.

To finish the card off I added some Neat & Tangled sequins to the flower and the top corner. Although super simple, I think this card is really cute!

For my second card I used some scraps from the paper collection and layered them as a base.

I then placed two stickers on the card for the main feature and sentiment and added one of the dimensional coffee shop stickers to the bottom. I love how sparkly it is!

For my final card I used layers of the coffee time washi tape to create a background.

I then used the last two prima flowers in the corners, layered a sticker from the paper kit with some scrap paper and made a cute little faux tea bag to finish it off!

And here's my three cards together!

I hope you've enjoyed this project and are inspired to create some simple cards yourself!

Until next time - Sarah xx

Coffee & Friends - Tea Time Cards from Donna

Hello Crafty Friends!
It's almost the end of our coffee themed month and I think tea is feeling a little left out... so today Donna has 3 beautiful Tea Themed cards for us. Hmmmm.... now I need a cuppa!!

Hi all,
Have we had enough coffee yet; ummm that would be NO!!

I have three simple cards to show you today using most things from the kit.
I did use some lace and paper doilies from my stash..
I used all the same sizes for these 3 cards which is 13cm x 13cm.

Cut 1st mat at 12.5cm x 12.5cm
Cut 2nd mat at 12cm x 12cm

Distress all the edges and ink around them.
I sewed around the mats twice including across the lace; I then adhered them to the card base.
I stamped and cut 2 tags from the China Tea Cups stamp set and adhered them using 3D foam tape.
The tea cup sticker is from an earlier kit from Aunty Vera HERE
A flower inked with Distress ink and a sticker from the sticker sheet and its done and dusted..

Card 1. Tea makes everything better.

A little bit of tea stained gauze under the sticker gives this card a little dimension..

Card 2. You are my cup of tea...

Distressing the edges makes these cards look a little shabby..

Card 3. Just For You

A bit of glitter on the flowers and around all edges of the cards finishes these cards nicely..

I hope I have inspired you to create Glorious things..
Thank you for stopping by..
Hugs
DONNA xx

Coffee & Friends: Lolly's Passport Cover

Hello Crafty Friends!
Real coffee lovers will want to travel the world searching for that perfect cup of coffee. Or at least keep a notebook on hand to jot down all their coffee dates ;)
Lolly's Passport Cover will keep your passport safe and gorgeous looking. And if you're not traveling... it's the perfect size for holding passport sized notebooks!

I recently made a passport cover out of Kraft-Tex, and since it was my prototype, I didn't want to use up my dwindling supply of Coffee & Friends papers!  :)  Now that I feel confident in the procedure, I'm ready to make the COFFEE passport cover!   Woot!

If you aren't familiar with Kraft-Tex, it is thick paper that is hard to tear, is machine washable, and can be sewed.  It's amazing stuff!

I started with white Kraft-Tex, but since I painted it, any color will do.  The cover measures 7.5 X 5.5 inches, and the two pockets are 5.5 X 1.5 inches each.

I painted them all a light "coffee with cream" color, and when dry, I stamped the coffee cup from the Sizzix stamps in the collection.

I also stamped a half-image of the cup on each flap.  I used the Lawn Fawn Fawndamentals black ink pad that I got from Aunty Vera. Then I painted the white parts of the cup on the cover with white acrylic paint.   I also stamped "java time" under the cup.

I had pre-stamped and pre-colored several of the one inch circular emblems from the stamp set, so I used Mod Podge to glue one onto the coffee sleeve.  I realized the cover was a little dull, so I used gold metallic paint over a stencil to sponge in some rays coming from behind the coffee.  That was perfect!   Once dry, I applied one coat of Mod Podge.

Then I sewed the pockets onto the reverse side, with a top stitch very close to the edge.

If you don't travel, don't worry.  These passport holders also hold traditional passport-size traveler's notebook inserts!  I made a little notebook for the inside, using paper from the collection and one of my pre-stamped and pre-colored coffee images from the stamp set.

For the papers, I used cream colored printer paper, and I lightly stamped some images randomly throughout, to remind me of a real passport.

A little washi edging on some of the paper is cute, too.  This washi is a sweet addition to the kit!

Now I can use this as a handy notebook in my purse, and I can keep exchanging the little notebook inside as often as needed!

You are going to want to make one of these!  First, though, you are going to want to get that KIT!  Look for it HERE.

Thank you for joining my fun.  I did  film the making of this passport cover, which you can see HERE.

Speaking of coffee and FRIENDS, if you make one of these, your friends will want to take it, so you might want to either hide yours from them or make enough to share!

Blessings,
Lolly

Coffee & Friends: Lolly's Mixed Media Shaker

Hello Crafty Friends!
Are you ready to shake things up a bit?
Join Lolly for a fun Mixed Media Shaker Canvas!!

Q:  What is better than coffee?
A?  Coffee + mixed media + shakers!

I bought an 8 X 10 canvas board but ended up getting a larger one (9 X 12) from a friend.  Much better!  I knew I wanted to use a shaker cup from the kit, and I wanted the canvas to be white behind it.  So I filled the shaker with the sequins from the kit, plus a few coffee beans of course.  Then I peeled the tape off the cup and added E6000 to the edge, too, and stuck it to the canvas.

The hard part was waiting.  I wanted to make sure I didn't mess it up, so I let it cure for 24 hours.  Then I applied black gesso to the canvas and to the acrylic edge around the cup.  Once dry, I coated it all in Dixie Belle chalk mineral paint in Caviar color.

Then I used a white chalk pencil to outline the letters c-o-f-f-e-e, making the two Fs look like steam coming from the cup.  I had seen a picture of this done, and I knew it would be perfect for this project.

Then I painted the letters, using a tan color for the steam and white for the rest of the letters.

Once it dried, I used the flat end of large plastic crochet hooks (Susan Bates Crystallites hooks) to dip in acrylic paint and apply around the canvas.  Look!  It's Lolly Dots!  I also used a fine knitting needle for the tiny dots.

I am in love with how it turned out!

You can see the process HERE.

And pick up this fun kit HERE while supplies last!

Thank you for getting dotty with me!

Coffee & Friends - Sarah's Monochromatic Art Journal Layout

Hello Crafty Friends!
How's the weather in your part of the world? Down here in Oz winter is FINALLY here.... what a great excuse to drink more coffee!
Today Sarah takes inspiration from the never-ending rain and creates a coffee-rainy Art Journal Layout. All in yummy shades of coffee....errr ......I mean....brown.

Hi friends! I don't know about you but I could do with a warm drink at the moment. The weather here is getting colder each day, and the rain hasn't let up all week. Cold weather and hot drinks seem to go well together, so I thought I'd combine them in this project... with a bit of a twist!

To start my art journal layout I used my prima watercolours to create a light brown background. I then dripped a darker brown down the page to add depth and then added a stencil layer. Using the splash stencil from the kit, I combined the DecoArt texture paste with some dark brown acrylic paint to create a coffee rain. I then stamped the sentiment from the sizzzix coffee set in black ink.

In the bottom corner of the page I added some of the coffee time washi tape from the kit and painted over it with watercolours to blend it in with the rest of my brown-toned page.

The main feature of this layout is this beautiful gorjuss girl that I painted with watercolours. Isn't her little umbrella adorable?!

And here's the finished page here. I love that the little gorjuss girl is keeping the coffee from splashing on her. And even though brown tones might be boring, there's something really elegant about creating a monochromatic page.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing this project and might be inspired to create your own journal page.

If you'd like to see a process video, you can check it out HERE

Bye for now!

Coffee & Friends - Donna's Coffee Cards

Hello Crafty Friends!
What's better than a coffee themed card? A card that SMELLS of coffee!!
Mmmmm Donna! I can almost smell it from here!!

Hi all,
Today I have a card or two to show you which smells divine..

I made a wash from coffee and water and painted it on the front of the cards from the kit.
I let it sit in puddles for a minute then heat dried it because I became impatient..

I traced 2 cup designs from the shaker cups on patterned paper and cut them out..

Placing shaker sequins and other bits and bobs on the cups, I then peeled the adhesive off the shaker cups and placed on the cut out paper coffee cups as shown.

Using the Splash stencil and coloured Dimensional Effects, I embossed a splash on top of the shaker cup and over the side. Then using a brown marker I drew around the splashes to give some colour as it was too bland..I washed it out a little with a little water..

Using a black pen I doodled around the card and then cut words from the paper in the kit and adhered on the front of the card using 3D foam tape..

These cards smell wonderful and I like them even if they are a bit 'different' lol..

I have a journal next to me as I work and use this to put all the 'left overs' onto.. I will then one day when I get time use these pages..

I hope I have inspired you to create Glorious things..
Thank you for stopping by..
Hugs
