We Can Be Heroes - Sarah's Super Envelope Album

Hello Crafty Friends!
Hasn't this past month just flown by..... faster than a speeding bullet?!!
We're wrapping up our month of super heroes with a fun Envelope Album from Sarah......

Hello friends! What a wonderful month of superhero goodness we've had. For my final project I made a simple flat envelope album.

To start with I picked out six gold envelopes.

I cut a sliver off four of the envelopes so that both ends were open like this:

Next I began assembling the album using the envelopes as the pages. I formed the first two pages by gluing the flap of one inside another.

Once it's glued down, it looks like this:

I continued adding pages, leaving the closed envelopes as the front and back cover. I folded the last flap around from the back to the front to create a spine. And that's the base of the album done!

Once the base was complete, I used the marvel papers to decorate each page. For each spread I combined one of the background papers with a character page. Here is hulk:

Captain America:

Spiderman #1:

Spiderman #2:

And the edge of the Hulk:

For the front cover I used this spotted background and added a spray of the Heidi Swapp Color Shine. I then used some of the Marvel Stickers to add a title and of course some Avengers. In the bottom corner I added some of these gorgeous Eyelet Outlet Brads

And that's the album finished! By cutting off the edges of the envelopes you're left with pockets on each page for journal cards, photos or ephemera. I love having things stick out from the edge!

I hope you've enjoyed this project. Be your own Hero!

Sarah xx

We Can Be Heroes - Donna's Superhero PartyTake Home Bag

Hello Crafty Friends!
I'm so sad...... our Superhero Party is almost over.
Donna is filling the treat bags to say thank you and goodbye..... but I really hope that this past month has brought you loads of inspiration and put big smiles on your faces.

How exciting has this Super Heroes party been this month.. I have had so much fun with you all.

Here is a gift bag for you to say Thank You for coming to our party..

Cut a 8 1/2 inch x 11 inch piece of paper.
To get the Spiderman image on the front of the bag you will need to turn your paper face down.
Score at 2inches, 5 inches, 7 inches and 10 inches. Turn and score at 2 inches and 7 inches.
Cut as shown remembering to cut up to the score line as shown on bottom as well.

This is the front of the bag..

Ink around the edges and punch along the top flap.
Adhere along the side flap (here on the right side piece) and then fold the left side over to give you the bag shape. Fold the bottom up and adhere together..

Using your fingers fold the sides in as shown.

Punch two holes right through the bag when folded and tie some of the gorgeous paper string into a bow.. I added a spider die cut from Impression Obsession - Spider and Web.
(note: Next time I would cut the tab a bit shorter to show Spiderman off better.)

I hope I have inspired you to create Glorious things..
Thank you for stopping by..
Hugs
DONNA xx

We Can Be Heroes - Donna's Two Superhero Cards

Hello Crafty Friends!
I hope you're all having a great weekend and getting your craft on! How about a bit of super cardmaking?  Today Donna uses the stamp from our August Kit to create 2 very different cards. I love them both..... which is your fave?

This has been quite a month with the Super Heroes theme..
If you have someone in your life that loves these characters then this kit is for you..
And if you are a scrapbooker then believe me you are going to love this..

What is a party without a card or two..
Though using the same stamp image these are so different from each other..

I started with two A4 sheets of cardstock.
( I only used one)

I sprayed water first then sprinkled the Brusho powder onto the wet paper; it didn't spread enough for me so I sprayed some more water until I was happy with the result.. I started with the red Brusho from the kit but I wanted a bit more oomph, so I pulled out a black Brusho and blue Brusho that I have in my stash. Love these little bottles of gorgeousness..

I cut the paper down to 4 7/8 inch x 4 7/8 inch.
(hint - use a piece of chipboard instead of  3D foam. This is a piece of packaging.
It saves you money and is firm and you are recycling).

Layer this on to a 5 1/4 inch square card. I stamped city on fire and cut it out. I also used 3D foam tape to adhere this to the front of the card.. Cutting a little piece of the web doily I adhered this under the spiderman I had made up earlier with the die from the kit.. Using 3 D foam tape I then adhered spiderman to the front of the card..

The second card is the same size. I kept the background plain and added the chipboard stickers to the front of the card.. I also added a little bit of the web doily under the spiderman.  Cutting the prongs off the brads I placed a tiny piece of 3 D foam tape underneath them and adhered them near the super heroes..

I hope I have inspired you to create Glorious things..
Thank you for stopping by..
Hugs

We Can Be Heroes - Sarah's Super Art Journal Layout

Hello Crafty Friends!
Are you planning on getting some crafting time this weekend? I think art journaling is such a relaxing way of getting your craft on. So I hope Sarah inspires you with her Heroes art journal layout and you get some time to just sit and play with all your lovely crafty bits this weekend!

Hello everyone! Today I'm here to share an art journal layout using the fantastic We Can Be Heroes Kit. To start with I used some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spritz for a background base. I sprayed it across the left hand side of the page here:

For the right side I used one of the American Crafts Die Cuts as a stencil to create this cool inverse spiderweb.

Next, I had a play with the Brusho Colour Crystals to create this watercolour splash effect. I love how vibrant the colour is and it works really well with the black.

For the next layer I used the Abstract Skyline Stamp with Versamark Ink and Ranger Embossing Powder to create this gorgeous gold embossed cityscape.

In the bottom corner I added a Spiderman diecut using the Wall Crawler Die. I love how well the die ties in with the spiderwebs and the skyline.

I then added a sentiment to the top left hand corner by hand lettering this month's theme using a white gell pen. I also added a few details across the page to lighten up some of the dark areas of the spread.

Here is the page done!

I hope you've enjoyed this project. Stay tuned for more hero craft soon!

Bye for now!
xx Sarah xx

We Can Be Heroes - Donna's Party Food

Hello Crafty Friends!
I'm loving all the fun super hero projects the team are coming up with this month! So much thinking outside the usual craft box!!
Today Donna invites you to a Super Hero Party! There's cake and treats and... of course... super heroes!!

'Super Heroes', what a quirky theme for the month of August.
I decided to go with a party flavour because it is winter and why not have a party to cheer us all up..

How exciting you are here at the party..
I made some food to share, are you hungry??

Yummy Cupcakes.. How pretty are these..

For all the toppers of the cup cakes I punched a 2 inch circle from coloured cardstock, a 1 3/4 inch scalloped circle patterned paper from the kit and a black cardstock 1 1/2 inch circle.

I started with the 2 inch circle first then the patterned scalloped, a web doily, the 1 1/2 inch black circle and finally a sticker.  I attached all this to a straw wrapped in paper from the kit and then inserted into the cup cake.. Pretty neat eh.. I was going to do decorations on the cake but left it bare to showcase the topper..
(in case you are wondering, they are real chocolate cup cakes)

I made a paper cone with this wonderful paper to hold all the yummy sweets in..

Yah love lollipops.. How easy is this.. Doesn't that string look brilliant with the tissue paper and the tiny stickers..

I love washi tape and it looks wonderful wrapped around this little tin..

Did you get your party hat to wear!!  I left Captain America for you..

I hope I have inspired you to create Glorious things..
Thank you for stopping by..
Hugs
DONNA xx

We Can Be Heroes - Sarah's Planner Dashboards

Hello Crafty Friends!
Today Sarah has a very special project for all our Planner Super Heroes........ dashboard inserts to make your planners really WOW! And I love the idea of the 'Today' bookmark. I totally need to make one of these!

Hello everyone! I'm back to share another project using the wonderful August Kit. Planners are a fantastic way to combine craft with functionality, so I decided to make some planner dashboards for some of my planners - oops! I think I just let the cat out the bag... yes I have more than one!

For my first dashboard I created an A5 insert for one of my traveler's notebooks. I cut down two of the Marvel papers to A5 and decorated the backs. I then laminated them in an A4 sleeve and folded in half to make an A5 insert. You can see the middle of the insert here featuring Thor and Spiderman.

For the front of the insert I used the Hero Arts Abstract Skyline Stamp with Archival ink to create a background and then coloured it with Prima watercolours. I added an Ironman sticker from the Marvel collection to add some dimension.

For the back of the insert I used alternating layers of the Marvel Craft Tape to create this pattern. I love how great this simple technique turned out!

With my first dashboard complete I decided to make another for my personal sized ring planner. For this insert I used a 4x6" laminating sleeve. This is a little bit different to the personal planner size, but still works, and means you don't have to cut down large laminating sheets.

Using one of the Marvel papers as a base, I then sprayed some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spritz on the page. These sprays are so pigmented and shiny - I think I've found my new favourite product! I added a Spider Web doily on the top and then used the Spiderman Die on the bottom. I wasn't as patient as Donna with this, so I did a simple version, cutting the image out in red card stock and then accenting with black and white markers. I think he still looks great!

Finally, I thought I'd make a little 'today' bookmark for my planner too. Using a 3x4" laminating sleeve, I cut some scrap paper to size and then accented it using stickers from the Marvel collection. I also added some sequins from my stash. Simple, but so effective!

I hope you've enjoyed these superhero dashboards, and might be inspired to make some of your own.

Bye for now!
xx Sarah xx
