Life Within the Seed 2 - Nat's Little Golden Book Easter Journals

Hi everyone, hope you are all well and keeping busy.
It is my last project for April and when pondering the theme of 'Life Within the Seed', and perusing gorgeous Bo Bunny 'Garden Grove' papers, two things came to mind - Easter and Spring.  For a long time now I have been collecting Little Golden Books (LGBs) with the idea of altering them for journals and I decided there is no better time than now! Another great project that can be done with/for the kids and adults alike to use.
Here are some of the pages and decorations in my journals using the wonderful products from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft, be sure to scroll to the end as there will be links to a full flip-through of both books and a process video of the making of these cuties.

As you can see the spines of both are covered with fabric and fabric ruffles have been added on the edge of some pages. First I will show you some of 'The Golden Egg' LGB.

On this page I have made a little decoration including a 'tuck spot' for the blue tickets to be slipped in.  I used the Impression Obsession 'Basket' and Lawn Fawn 'Stackable Egg' dies to achieve this.  I love the versatility of these dies - so much fun to play with 😊

I used a cute Easter gift bag clipped to the page with the base folded up and stuck on the side edges to create another tuck-spot that I could slip this cute egg embellishment in. The egg was created using the Impression Obsession 'Mini Bunnies' dies to embellish.

This lovely card was previously made using the Bo Bunny Chipboard pieces and I have hung it over the top of the page and paper-clipped it on to the gorgeous Garden Grove paper.

I love the colours and spring feel of the Garden Grove collection that we have to use this month and the colours suit these LGB journals perfectly! For this first journal I predominantly chose papers that were full of yellow, orange and green.

Here is another egg shaped card that I had made and added some of the Santoro Leaf Ribbon to.  I used quite a bit of this in both journals as it is a lovely embellishment. This card slips into the gift bag shown that has been sewn in to the journal as a page.

At the end of this first journal is a tuck spot made with off cuts of the Garden Grove papers (as have most of my tuck spots) that includes this cute journalling card embellished with a pre-made egg,  more Santoro ribbon and a strip of 'Easter Grass' Washi tape.
I love how bright and cheerful this book is! They are not colours I would usually use, but the Bo Bunny papers and embellishments I chose pulled it all together very nicely and I love it.

My second LGB journal is much more of a favourable colour scheme for me and again - I just love the floral, butterflies and 'Spring' feel of the Garden Grove collection added to this!

Here I have used off-cuts to make a tuck spot and journalling card to slip in it, which I decorated using the Kaisercraft 'Flower Bunch' stencil and Deco Art Texture Paste, then I painted with watercolours.

The Garden Grove 'Lovely' paper really brightens this journal up nicely and adds that pop of colour.

Here is another tuck spot made by punching a circle out of the gorgeous paper to hold an off-cut used for a journalling card embellished with another cute basket, this time decorated with paper flowers. I added a fabric flip to the other page as a nice interactive decoration.

I love this tag I had made with more of Garden Grove paper and chipboard pieces, so I decided to paperclip it in.  I clipped most of the embellishments in, or slipped them in tuck spots rather than adhering them to the pages so that the recipient can move them about - or even remove them if desired.

Another tuck-spot simply decorated with Santoro ribbon....

I love this card I made previously using the Garden Grove papers and a cute chipboard element, therefore I decided to create another tuck spot to add it into this journal.

This was my first attempt at making LGB journals and my first go at threading buttons onto the spine.  It was fiddly - but well worth it and I love the way they turned out.  If you haven't tried making one of these, give it a go as they are so much fun.

Here is the flip-through of both journals showing all pages:

Life Within The Seed 2 - Donna's Flip Top Book

Hi all,
I love the Illustrated Garden stamps from the wonderful Tim Holtz and wanted to showcase them on their own but I couldn't help myself when I created the flip book I then added lots of Easter goodies..

I stamped the five images on watercolour paper and heat embossed them with Black Embossing Powder and coloured them in  with Distress Inks ..

The watercolour paper is 4 1/4 inch x 3 1/4 inch.
The pages measure 5 inches x 3 1/2 inches score at 1/2 inch one end.

I used the Kinetics Easter Basket die from Creative Expressions..
Eggs to colour washi tape and Butterfly punch from EK Success

Words from the Cottontail collection - Bo Bunny (my favourite flower)

I love this basket from the Kinetics Easter Basket die from Creative Expressions and decided to use it on this piece of patterned paper due to the paper being upside down lol.

I stamped and die cut the large easter egg from Neat & Tangled- Eggstra Special

I adore this die set Credit Card Sleeve and Tag from Sizzix - Eileen Hull (sorry, now discontinued) and reckon it was brilliant for this background and Easter Grass washi tape.

How darn cute is the little chicken from the Neat & Tangled- Eggstra Special.  The Happy Easter word is from the Kinetics Easter Basket die from Creative Expressions

I love this piece of background paper and the flower and rabbits peeking their heads over the strip of paper really stands out..

I had die cut these cute Mini Bunnies and was going to throw out the negative paper but as it fell on the page I was stoked to see how great it was.. So I adhered it down and placed a few bunnies in the spaces after inking them..  A strip of washie tape really brings this page together.

A layered chipboard wreath suits this page perfectly.

The cover is a wonderful piece of paper and I again used a shaker dome as a focal point.. A few charms and a couple of quotes with some ribbon on the rings and the flip top book is finished.

Life Within the seed 2 - Aussie Scrapper's 12x12 layout "Mi Abuela"

Hello Dear Crafty Friends,  What a month it's been and here I am with my Fourth Layout for this month.  Using the Bo Bunny "Garden Grove Collection" I must say that I have truly loved this collection.  It's been lovely to create feminine layouts that bring me so much joy.

I will confess that I did struggle with this layout but in the end, I like how it turned out.  I have been wanting to scrap this photo I have of my grandmother (Abuela) for a long time.  It is the only photo I have of her from when she was young.

I started by picking my background paper.  I will be using side B of the paper "Garden Grove Blanket" this is the green paper  and  for my background paper I will be using side B of the "Garden Grove Remember" the beautiful beige/creamy coloured paper.

The first thing I did was to gut the inside of the "garden grove Blanket" paper and then also cut a piece to matt my photo.  I took this piece of paper and ran it through my cuttle bug machine using an embossing folder.  I then inked the raised pattern with some distress oxides using the colour "vintage Photo". Sorry in the picture I showed the wrong colour as I changed my mind after taking the photo...

I trimmed all four side of the paper  "Garden Grove Remember" and adhered it down to the matt I made earlier and I also matted my photo with the same paper that I had earlier embossed and inked.

I fell in love the the "Garden Grove Spring" paper and just had to use it as a layer so I cut a rectangle and then I decided to give it a softer look by taking out my old patterned scissors and cutting around all four sides.  I also inked all four sides with the Vintage Photo Distress oxides.

Here is how the layout is looking so far, please ignore the chipboard stuck on the left-hand corner as I change my mind and this is later removed.

I took a piece that was left over from my embossed paper and I ran it through my cuttlebug using an old spellbinders die.  (this layout really did inspire me to bring out all the old toys).  I pulled out some of the ephemera from the Bo Bunny "Noteworthy" collection and I also used some doilies from my stash.  I dyed some cheesecloth using the Shabby Shutters distress spray stain and added pieces of cheesecloth around my layout.

Finally, I fix the top Left-hand corner by removing the chipboard and adding some different ephemera as well as some ribbon and of course my dyed cheesecloth.  I add the title and my layout is complete.

Thanks everyone and for those interested here is the link to the process video

Life Within the Seed 2 - Mother & Son, Nat's Scrapbook Layout

Hi everyone, hope you are all safe and well!
A few of the gorgeous Bo Bunny 'Garden Grove' papers that I received this month really suit a vintage theme - rather than the bright colours I have been using for my other projects.  With this month's theme being 'Life Within the Seed 2' I began thinking of motherhood, so scoured my family photos to find this beauty of a mother and her son and felt it would be perfect to go with the papers for my first ever scrapbook layout!

I chose the Garden Grove 'Remember ' and 'Tranquility ' papers with their gorgeous roses and vintage feel.

I cut down the 'Tranquility' paper to use both sides as the alternative side had a lovely ledger print, then inked all edges of the papers with 'Black Soot' Distress ink.  Next I found a rectangle doily that I had previously dyed with watered down black acrylic.  I arranged all of these pieces on top of one another until I was happy with the format and used double-sided tape to stick the papers down and Helmar's glue to adhere the doily.

My chosen photo was printed onto matte photo paper as I preferred less gloss for this layout.  I cut some black cardstock just a little larger than the photo to create a photo mat and adhered the photo to this with the double-sided tape.

Pieces of stunning second-hand black lace were glued onto the page in two places, then the faux negative strip and photo added using double sided tape.

Now the only thing missing is a title for this page.......

I grabbed some of my tea-dyed cardstock, jumped on my computer and searched the fonts available on Microsoft Word until I found one I liked then proceeded to print the title and date of the photo.

I tore around the words and date, inked them with the 'Black Soot' Distress ink then glued them onto the page.

I love the way this page turned out and think I may have caught the Scrapbooking bug!  Such a lovely way to display precious memories.
