It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.... Advent Calendars 2016

Hello Crafty Friends.... please be warned - this blog post comes with a warning.......

If you panic, cringe or just plain roll your eyes at the thought of Christmas being...... EEK! 61 days away!!..... then please slowly back out of the room (lol).

But if, on the other hand, the thought of Christmas countdowns takes you to your Happy Place and you are one of those clever and organised crafters who actually makes Christmas cards and crafts well in advance (haha says Aunty Vera who usually does the First Week of December Card Making Panic Dance)..... then please hang around.... this one's right up your alley....

ADVENT CALENDARS!!!!!! Have you ever made one? Do you have a special family calendar that you use every year to count the days of December down to Christmas Day? When my boys were toddlers, I made them each a special little advent calendar made of little bags of sheer starred fabric that I sewed up and hung along a length of ribbon. (Sorry - no pics as they are still somewhere in storage). But these are looking a little worse for wear so I think it;s time to make super duper crafty Advent Calendar. Now it's a good thing that I live in Aunty Vera Land isn't it?!

We currently have two very cool Kaisercraft Advent Calendars in stock.....

This Shadow Box Frame calendar that has a great space for decorating (and fits the Kaisercraft Wood Flourish scenes just perfectly)

And this Advent Tree Shelf - for when you can't decide between crafting up a calendar or crafting up a tree!!

Now here's the thing... we're heading into the last week of October and Advent Calendars need to be ready by the 1st of December for the kids (little and big alike) to start their countdowns. So time is kind of going "tic toc tic toc....TIC!!!!! TOC!!!!!!!!"  And THAT'S why we crafters get our Christmas supplies super early.....lol

There are so many lovely Christmas collections out this year to decorate your calendars with. And no end to the inspiration on our favourite crafty websites and of course... pinterest!! (lol)

The Kaisercraft blog has some lovely ideas for decorating the calendars. Have a look at Anita Bownds'  Tree Shelf - just adorable!!

So here's the challenge I've set myself.... get an awesome calendar done by the end of November. Of course that means setting aside my other 57 unfinished projects.....haha.... but that's how I roll :)

So I have chosen the Shadow Box frame and this is the story so far.....

Well - the hard and boring part's done..... putting the thing together. I'll eventually put the finished product up here on the blog, but in the meantime if you want to follow my progress (as slow as that may be)..... come and join our fun and friendly Facebook Group - Crafty Vera and Friends! We'd love to see your calendars and other Christmas craft projects.

So - Christmas Countdowns......... do they make you run for the hills? Or are they your Happy Place?

Aunty Vera's Warehouse

Hello Crafty Friends..... it's so good to see you all again! This blog has been very neglected the last few months as we went through the Big Move and all the issues associated with it, but we're back - bigger and better than ever - with lots of great new goodies to tempt you with (lol) and fabulous ideas and inspiration from our talented Design Team members.

Which brings us to my little warehouse problem.

We've been unpacking lots of fun boxes over the last couple of weeks......

Now this job is part fun (all "look at this.... WOOHOO... I forgot I ordered this"..... Christmas in every box!!) but it's also a lot of work - sorting, uploading to the website, putting products away onto the correct shelves, not to mention the added work of collating and packaging all our incoming customer orders.

All of this work is usually supevised by Scraption Man. But........ PANIC!!!!!...... Scraption Man is nowhere to be found!!!! I think perhaps he's gone on strike after having to single-handedly move our entire shop to our new premises.

So - our warehouse is looking like THIS....

We need help! And it seems that word has reached all the way across Australia as we have received our first Video Application from young Zayn (Amira's gorgeous son)...... do we see him as a potential future Arrival of the Big Box Opener? Or perhaps the next Tim Holtz?.......

Lol - isn't he the best!!! Thank you so much Zayn..... I hope you get to play with some of those goodies too!

We'll be back real soon with more crafting ideas and inspiration

Have a fabulous weekend wherever you may be!
Aunty Vera :)
