He's Making a List - Suzanne's Altered Christmas Embroidery Hoop

Hello Crafty Friends!
Suzanne has a beautiful Christmas decor project for us today. Check out her altered embroidery hoop - it's just magical!

Hello everyone, I hope you have all been enjoying some wonderful Christmas crafting time and that you have finished all your Christmas shopping.

This project was such a lot of fun and so very simple to make. I used an eight inch embroidery hoop and some of the beautiful papers and ephemera pieces  from the Carta Bella range to decorate my hoop.  I also used the gorgeous Heidi Swapp trims for this project.

I traced around the outside of the hoop onto the paper I chose for the background and cut it out.

Using the same paper, I cut hillsides to layer onto the background.

I fussy cut the images I wanted to use for the altered hoop.

I added dimensional dots to the back of the hillsides.

I attached the hillsides to the background with dimensional dots between each layer

Here you can see all the dimension

I have placed the different fussy cut elements on different layers of the hillside.

I used the white pom pom trim to go around the hoop

Diamond Dust adds a touch of sparkle to the hillsides

I used the gorgeous blue ribbon to make a double bow for the top of the hoop.

Here is my finished embroidery hoop.

Thank you so much for having a look at my Christmas Embroidery Hoop.  I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and thank you for all your support throughout the year.  I really appreciate it.

He's Making a List - Suzanne's Altered Cotton Reel Christmas Ornaments

Hello Crafty Peeps!
We have some fun for you today as Suzanne alters some cotton reels to create beautiful Christmas ornaments!

Ho, ho, how cute is the December (He's Making a List) kit from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft.  I absolutely love the beautiful papers from Carta Bella with matching ephemera and all the other gorgeous products that have been included in this kit.

Today, my project involves the gorgeous Dress It Up buttons from the kit and the scrumptious Inka Gold Aquamarine paint.  I'm making two altered cotton reel Christmas ornaments.  I have made these before and they are so much fun and look so cute.

The cotton reels are from a Christmas wreath that I purchased from Spotlight after Christmas a few years ago for a few dollars. They were covered with red wool which I removed and then painted with the Inka Gold paint.

I then covered the spool with some Christmas material which I tore at the same height as the reel then frayed the top and bottom so that the frayed ends splayed out over the top and bottom lips of the reel.

I then added a cord with a large pearl bead to the top so that my ornament can hang on the tree.

I used hot glue in the well at the top of the reel and pushed some of the cord down into the hole.

When I had enough of the cord pushed into the well, I put a last spot of hot glue on top so that the large pearl could be stuck there to cover that area.

I used the gorgeous 'Dress It Up" buttons that were in the kit to decorate the reels.  I used Glossy Accents and hot glue to attach the buttons to the reel.  I also cut the back off of the buttons.  I added some of my own buttons from my stash for the decorations.

I added Diamond Dust to the top and the bottom lip.

This is the second one I made with the buttons from the kit

These are my two finished altered cotton reels

Thanks for having a look.

Merry Christmas.

Can't You Hear the Thunder - Suzanne's Australian Shadow Box with Mailbox

G'day Crafty Mates!
Wow.... can you believe that today is the last day of November! I know I say this every month but seriously!!
Today Suzanne wraps up our month of Aussie Crafting with a perfect Australian project....  a shadow box and mailbox that just sings Aussie Bush!!

Hello everyone. My final project with the November kit from Aunty Vera was probably the most fun to make.  I do love to get messy and to try out different things and for this project I made a 12 x 12 shadow box with a difference.

I started out with a 12 x 12 shadow box from Tiddleybitz  (got it from the op shop)  which I had to construct and then paint.  I used some green paint from Kaisercraft in a lovely shade of olive green to match the papers from Kaisercraft that are in the kit called the 'Open Road' collection.

I then used the full sheet with the dirt road and gum trees for the feature of the shadow box and I decorated it with several stickers from the sticker sheet and  a couple of boomerangs from the wooden elements from Kaisercraft.

I then made a mail box and a farm name sign to go with my shadow box.
I used a cardboard cylinder and hot glue to make a tree stump and then painted it with varies shades of grey paint

I made a mailbox using the corrugated tin paper from the collection and made a parcel, a newspaper and some letters to go inside the mailbox and glued it to the top of the tree stump.

I also made another post for the property name sign that I painted with the nuvo crystal drops and hung a sign with the name 'Coolibah"

I them hot glued them together and added some plant life to the bottom to hide the hot glue.

I think that together the two pieces are just so much fun and I am really enjoying them in my craft room.

Thanks so much for having a look at my project and I hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks and bye for now
Suzanne xoxo
