Ready, Set......... SCRAP!!....

Hi everyone. This is my first project for Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft Creative Team, and let me say that I'm so excited to be joining the Creative Team for the next few months.  National Scrapbook day is on May 6th and I would love to show you how I go about some seriously cute but simple Scrapbook pages.  Now, as you know, this is a challenge and I would love you to join me.  Amira, Lolly, Vera and I will all be doing different challenges and there are going to be prizes awarded to random winners from each persons challenge.   Hopefully, we will be the winning team. There will also be a grand prize winner chosen from all entries.

Theme :- Love the Journey
Double Page Layout
I am going to create a double page layout with the Mademoiselle collection from Kaisercraft.  The background papers are a neutral creamy colour, and to this I have added a border strip from another paper in the collection.  These run horizontally on the page and forms the base of what are going to be border clusters on each page.

Horizontal strips to form the base of my border clusters
Next, I used some of my dies to cut 10 different circles (2 of each) and layered them up so that I had 10 circle embellishments (5 for each page).  All the edges have been distressed.  I then diecut some very simple flowers for four of the circle embellishments and added some bling to the centre.  These are placed on the left hand page circles. I also cut out two leafy branches to add to the top and bottom flower embellishment.  For the left hand circles I diecut four butterflies to go on top of the circles.  For the middle circles on each border cluster I made different embellishments.  I diecut a birdhouse, bird and branch for the left hand side and a basket and flowers for the right hand side.

After that, I fussy cut two sentiments from another paper in the collection, one for each page and also some butterflies from another page.  I also diecut the words Cherish and Love to add to the pages.  I have also made a small journaling booklet from four of the 3x 4 cards.

For the frames for the photographs, I used another kaisercraft die called circle vines.  Because this die is so flimsy, I diecut it from coordinating card stock twice for each frame  (4 pink/apricot and 4 brown). I then glued two cardstock frames together before cutting it again from decorative paper and adding that on top.  On top of that I added another layer of the same diecut in green, but I only used the leaves and flourish part of the diecut. (It is easy to cut out the pieces you don't need).   I then diecut some little flowers to add to the leaf and flourish part of the frame.  I added a small flatback pearl to centre of each flower.

die cut the frame 2 times with cardstock, once with patterned paper and once with green.
Here are the pages when everything is all laid out ready to add your photographs.

The finished layout

Here is the layout after I have added some photographs to the layout and some close ups of the page.  These pages tell a story about each of my children and the wonderful friendships that they formed during their school lives and how those friendships endure today even though they do not see each other every day like they did at high school.

right hand side with photographs added of my handsome son Ryan on his highschool formal afternoon

This is the small booklet I made from the collections which I have done a small amount of journaling in.

This layout is very simple and can be recreated even if you don't have the collection of paper I used or the dies that I used.   Just stick to one collection, so that you know that everything matches and go with a lovely neutral background paper, and you can't go wrong.  I really hope that everyone has a go at creating a scrapbook page for the challenge or even a double page layout.  You can post your projects to Aunty Veras' facebook page by May 31 (Australia) and May 30 (U.S.) I can't wait to see what you all come up with.

 Cheers...  Suzanne
