Hi and welcome once again to the Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft
blog,
For the month of June we are using the gorgeous Carta Bella
Farmhouse Market papers.
My project is a simple ring bound journal that can be added
to as you need to. It includes pages to journal on and pockets to add ephemera
for future reference. Enjoy!
Materials used (Don’t forget that the core products are
discounted for the month of June).

Chipboard Sheet
35mm Silver album rings
2 Medium treat bags
2 coin pocket bags
4 A5 ivory cardstock
The first step is to cut your two covers, I cut mine down to
15cm x 22cm. I then cut a thin strip to
use for the holes template.
The next step is to cover the covers, I chose the Carta
Bella Farm House Market Paper – Lovely Floral paper for the front cover. I cut
the 13 inch paper at the 22 cm length and then wrapped it around the chipboard
cover from the edge across the front around the side and across the back
finishing at the back edge.
Do the same for the back cover using the Carta Bella Farm
House Market Paper – Tags paper.
Then glue the paper to the chipboard and if you wish sew
around the edges with a zig zag stitch.
Cut down 4 pieces of ivory cardstock to fit inside the
covers, approximately 21cm x 15 cm.
Next is to put an edge piece onto each of the treat
bags. I used the Carta Bella Farm House
Market Paper – Barn Floral. I cut each piece 6 cm wide and to the length of the
bag. I then scored it down the middle so I could fold it and glue it to the
edge of the bag. I glued and used double sided tape and covered about a centimetre
of the bag.
Next using the two coin bags I placed them long side next to
each other and used the same process of giving them an edge. I used the reverse
side of the lovely floral paper. The strip I cut was 4 cm in width and butted
onto the ends of each coin pocket. Mine was 18 cm in length. Refer to the
photograph below.
Because the coin packets needed reinforcing I made pocket
from ivory cardstock and a small rectangular piece of the Lovely Floral paper. I attached the pocket using double sided tape
and I left the top open to create another pocket.
Next step is to punch holes in all the pages. Using the thin strip of cardstock place it on
the smallest page and mark to places where you would like the holes. I marked
mine with a ‘T’ at the top and punched two holes at either end approximately 2
cm from each edge. Make sure that you use the correct hole punch size for the
eyelets you have and you don’t punch the holes to far in that it interferes
with putting things in your pockets.
Now line up your template and mark on each piece where the
holes need to be and punch away. It’s up to you if you wish to put eyelets in
every page, I decided that I only needed them in the covers. On the back cover
I put the face of the eyelet so that it showed on the back of the back cover.
