Zip it Up: March Challenge with Lolly

Hello Crafty Readers!

Welcome to the first of our Creative Team Challenges for the year!
Our Team will each be introducing a challenge of their own devising (lol it's nowhere as evil as it sounds)....... What a fabulous way to try something new, perhaps step outside your comfort zone, and have some fun along the way!

There'll be a little random-draw prize at the end but... let's face it... it's not about the prize. It's about learning new crafty skills and showing us your take on our CT's ideas :)

So here we go..... Lolly's March Challenge: Zip It Up!

I can't believe it's March already!  I've been soooo looking forward to March  because of this challenge!    Squeeeeeee!   It's here; it's here!   Somebody take away my keyboard exclamation point key!

Are you up for a challenge? I hope so.  The challenge is to use a zipper or part of a zipper in a paper project this month.   From now until March 24th, you can post pictures of your completed project in Crafty Vera and Friends Facebook group HERE, or on Aunty Vera's Facebook Page HERE, or email them to info@auntyverascrapandcraft.com.au .
Please note that submitting your photos gives permission for those photos to be used here on the blog.

"What can you do with zippers and paper?"  you ask?    Well, here are some ideas:

I have two videos with some basic instructions on how to get started.
You can watch part 1 HERE
and part 2 HERE

But you know what?  You can also use the zipper PULL in addition to (or instead of) the zippers. I made a chipboard tag and glued my zipper pull on as a charm dangle.   Pretty cool, huh?   This could be a bookmark or tag.  I made it on chipboard for strength; I thought the weight of the charm might be too much for a card stock tag.  I think this would also be a great solution to adding charms to the spine of notebooks -- glue that zipper pull on!   I used E6000 because I wanted a permanent hold.  I would not recommend a hot glue gun for this because hot glue is not permanent.  If you go through all that trouble to make something gorgeous, you want it to last, right?    If you are mailing your projects, you should really consider dumping the hot glue gun.  I can't tell you how many projects I've received in the mail, which I've had to reattach items that fell off in transit.
Here's a closeup of the zipper pull / charm attachment:

Sooo, this is a challenge.  Is there a prize?  You betcha!  Aunty Vera has generously given entrants the possibility to win this Selfie die set by Bo Bunny

It is so adorable!   The film strip die is perfect for the mini Gorjuss girl stamped faces.

The small Polaroid die is perfect for the standard size (original) Gorjuss girl faces.

The large Polaroid die might work for the brand new larger Gorjuss girls, but I don't have any to compare, so I used another image instead.   I left a large margin on the left side of this card so I could punch holes in it and add it to a journal.

Note the trim on this particular one -- yes, that's a ZIPPER between the card and the black lacy trim.

I hope you will join in the challenge.  It's going to be a fun one!   Don't forget to get those entries in by March 24 (we're talking Australia time, so U.S. participants should plan on getting theirs in by the 23rd).  The winner will be announced on the 25th.

Let's get busy and "Zip It Up!"
