Continuing with our week of Easter crafting.... Donna uses our April Kit to create a fun little Easter Box......

Hi all, Well here we go with my second project

An Easter Box...

The colours of these papers are so gorgeous and bright

that I thought how do I showcase them so you can see just how

wonderful they really are..

I made this little box which measures 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" 

and I added a belly band to keep it closed.. The Pink

brads and orange ribbon brings it all together..

I placed a notecard through the belly band and

tied it with ribbon.. The stamp was perfect for the front

of the notecard.  and those tiny FLOWERS, just simply gorgeous..

I fussy cut 4 carrots and adhered them to the front of the card.

I just love how cute the washi tape is over the tips

of the carrots..

I also lined the lid of the box and rounded the corners.

A week of Easter Craft on the Bunny Trail - Lolly's Rolodex Cards

Hello Crafty Friends!

Time for another project in our Week of Easter Craft.

Today Lolly uses our April Kit to create super cute Rolodex Cards.......

I love working with springy, Eastery papers.   Is "Eastery" a word?  It should be!   Let's get started!
I took an imaginary class from Amira called "How to Get Started,"  and I began by stamping out many of the images on watercolor paper and on white card stock that is Copic marker friendly.

 I also used up a lot of scraps and cut out a pile of bunny silhouettes.  I love my bunny pile!   This was fun and therapeutic.  Are you feeling down? Make a bunny pile!  Are you needing some mojo?  Make a bunny pile!  Are you hungry?  Eat a chocolate bunny pile!  But I digress.

Okay, so I knew I wanted to make a stack of Rolodex cards (I use the term interchangeably with Memory Dex, though Memory Dex refers to Heidi Swapp's particular line of Rolodex), and I'm sure most of you expected me to do this, right?    I had actually started another craft, but it has a 48 hour drying time, so in the interim, I made some Rolodex cards!

I have some pastel card stock, and I used those to make journaling cards that are 4 inches wide by 3.25 inches tall (standard Memory Dex size), and I added one simple embellishment to each.  I did not want these cards to be bumpy or lumpy, as the purpose is to journal on them.  I am thinking they are great for writing gratitude notes.

And I used the kit goodies (so much FUN there) to make the cards.   Let's take a look.  I used two circle dies on this one and that ADORABLE Doodlebug dimensional bunny sticker.

I fussy cut some of the eggs from the paper collection and tucked them (and a bunny!) behind a green border die strip.  I think I'm starting to get drawn to the look of horizontal layers across the cards.

This one is an envelope made with the kit paper and a stamped image.  The envelope can be made on a We R Memory Keepers envelope punch board, using a 6.25" square paper and scoring at 3 1/8".

Here I'm using the same border die.  I like using it for faux grass!  Those bunnies pop up in this card again -- I love the look  of them all lined up at different heights.  I also added a teensy nose for each one.

This card uses a strip of the paper that looks like three strips, but it's all one.  I added lines and stitches to give the appearance of three layers, and I used a craft blade to slit holes so I could tuck in an egg and grass and that bunny on top.  I also cut his paws away from his belly so that he could put his paws over the rim of the card.  He looks so cute, as though he's popping in to check on the Easter egg hunt!

This one is more simple -- It's a card that came in the kit.  It was rather flat and undimensional, so I added Fun Flock, glitter, gold pen, and a semi circular saying I cut from paper in the kit.

Time for an Easter basket!  This basket is one of my stamps.  I stamped it on lavender paper to look more springy, tucked in some of the watercolored eggs, and added one of those Prima flower stickers to the handle.   Some lace on the bottom of the "Spring is here" cut out helped to add another layer of interest.

And here's another card with layered borders -- this time I used the washi as one of the borders.  I knew I wanted to use these super cute chickies, but I wanted one to stand out -- literally.  I made her pink and used a 3-D dot to bring her forward.  She loves her place of prominence!

And vellum!  Who doesn't love vellum?  I took a half-sized card and sewed a vellum shaker to the top.  I added a watercolored egg and some chickie sequins to the shaker and finished the card off with the Happy Easter stamped image.  After I made the video, I decided it needed a bright pink ribbon bow, so I added that as an afterthought.

Starting off our week.... Donna's Easter Basket!

Well here we go again, Yah!! You get to see me waffle on

with this project for April 'The Bunny Trail'.

This is project # 1 The Easter Basket!!

How CUTE is this little basket, honestly!!

I fussy cut the Easter eggs both sides and adhered them together so you

can see them from both sides, a little bling and glitter to

finish them off nicely..

Isn't this leaf ribbon just gorgeous!! 

The 'Mr Bunny' from Doodlebug is CUTE as.. And looks

wonderful as the main feature.. Did you notice the washi tape?

The back of the Easter Basket.. Though Easter is more of Australia's

Autumn, I really liked the tag and thought why not..

(just noticed the tag is a little off kilter lol)

I found these little chicks in my stash from years ago, (was actually looking for something else lol), and yelled "YES, Perfect" hehe.. 

So after it was finished, photos taken I was cleaning up when I spotted these gorgeous FLOWERS from the kit and mmm, I think I will add

 them to the leaf ribbon..

Finishes off the handle don't you think. I was really happy how this little

basket turned out and so colourful as well.

Totally 'Love' the paper..

Oops I Did It Again! .... when craft goes wrong: Donna's Plan B

Hello Crafty Friends!

Wow, what a start to the month!!

Things may look to be running smoothly in Aunty Vera land but behind the scenes, it's been PANIC STATIONS!!!!! You see....... the bits and pieces ordered for the April kit were stuck in the USA..... sitting in a warehouse for 10 days before being processed (what's with that, right?!) and then further held along by Customs. Oh dear!! Our Aussie Creative Team only just got their kits by the skin of their teeth... I'm talking afternoon of the 31st of March here! And poor Lolly had to wait for HER kit to make it all the way back to the USA..... talk about a round trip! So Lolly's kit was late!!

Now all this brings us to our Meet Your Creative Team topic of the month........ 'Oops, I Did It Again' ..... or..... Have you ever had a craft project go wrong, or in an unexpected direction? And how did you 'fix' it... or what was your Plan B?

Today Donna tells us about her special project that began as one thing and ended up as a Thingy. And a gorgeous one too!!

 Hello lovely people, I cannot believe how these months are flying past.

Do you believe it is now April, what happened to March???

Wow, as soon as Aunty Vera asked me 'What project didn't go as planned and what was plan B' ? I knew straight away this project was it..  

There have been many projects that have not turned out like I thought

they would but this one, is the mother of all "what happened"!! lol.

  This was supposed to be a Maypole which is this"

and when danced right forms a brilliant pattern..

I did this dance as a child.

Now look at this project, does that even resemble a Maypole??

I made a box, wrapped ribbon around a wooden chop stick and placed a Styrofoam

ball on top of it and thought ok now what .. (I didn't have any smaller balls).

Decided to cut strips of paper and glued and glued them to the ball.

Then sealed the whole thing.

I needed something to tie ribbons on so found this thingy and

decorated it up a bit and tied the ribbons on after trying

wire with beads first (so not happening).

Didn't like the ribbon on the stick so wrapped it in lace, then ribbon

roughly then wire..  the box looked empty so rolled tiny bits of paper and

glued them together with lots of adhesive..

Tried long ribbon but looked awful with the box so cut it shorter. Too bland

then thought what if I stamp some butterflies and fussy cut them which I did.

Then the stick was too bare so I use some copper wire and

wrapped bits around and placed some little notecards to the ends.  

The box was too flat so I made two wheels from empty ribbon spools.

Decorated them up a bit and placed the box on top of them.

Then I thought the box was too plain so added some

die cuts and fussy cutting and yep  liked that.

Decorated the sides of the box and ribbon spools to match in..

Added a few more things to the ball as it was too bare.

 

And VOILA my 'THINGY' that was suppose to be a Maypole..

OH I also thought about a hot air balloon but found that

was too complicated after all this lol..

Do you know what though !!  I love it and think of it as my favourite project.

What it is or what you would call it beats me but I fell in love

with it and now I won't change a thing. LOL
And don't forget small mistakes could be a wonderful thing...

Aunty Vera April Kit Reveal - The Bunny Trail ........ and an update on Lolly's Kit

Hello Crafty Friends - are you ready? It's time to reveal our April Kit.

Well it appears that Lolly DID find 3 chocolate bars for the KITnappers because today.... her kit arrived!!!!! YAY!!!!!

Hello Crafty Readers!

Here in Aunty Vera Land we try to be perfect..... but sometimes things go wrong.

Unfortunately, due to late product release, our supplier's new warehouse updates and the long journey between the USA and our part of the world..... our April Kit is running a little bit late. Just a little.
