Explore 2018! - Sarah's Memory Folio

Hello Crafty Friends!
I just adore Sarah's Memory Folio! Little pockets to hold special memories, notes and trinkets and special flaps and icons on all the pages.......why not make one and use it to hold treasured moments throughout the year!

Hello everyone. Well, after two projects that were very art-focused, it's time to get back to basics with the paper goods! I was so excited to use the gorgeous Dear Lizzy - Star Gazer collection and decided to make a simple memory folio. First, I cut some white card stock to 10" x 7" and folded in half. This gives me a folio that is 5"x7". I cut 4 of these and stuck them together by gluing 2 sides together and leaving the top open to create a pocket. This step is a little tricky to explain, but you can see it in the video tutorial at the bottom of this post.

Next, I cut the papers to 4.5" x 6.5" so that they could be attached to the pages. This gives a 1/4" border around each page that I think looks really polished and nice.

To add some dimension, I use the cut aparts from the collection and attached some scrap white card stock to them. Folding this little extra piece over creates a flap that you can attach the cut parts to the page with, to create little tab pages throughout.

You can see where I've stuck one of these down here, hiding the flap under the paper before sticking it down to the page.

The back looks like this - it's like a little mini page.

I didn't like the white part showing on the back, so I used some of the Scalloped Floral Washi Tape to hide the flap.

Next, I cut some white card stock to use as photo mats/journaling spots inside the pockets. I cut some more of the paper collection slightly smaller to matt onto the card stock, and punched some 1" circles to use as tabs.

When stuck together they look like this. I glued the circles down about half way and then stuck the paper down on top.

I ended up moving the tabs over slightly so that they staggered when put in the pockets.

To add a little bit more dimension to the pages, I used some of the extra cut aparts to create some little pockets. This one is top loading with some tags tucked in.

And this one is open on the bottom and side with some of the smaller cut outs slid in.

With the pages assembled, I made a closure for the booklet out of twine. Using this pink twine from my stash, I cut enough to wrap around the folio, added two of the Ken Oliver Embellishments and tied the end off. I then glued this to the spine of the folio and covered it with some card stock to create a finished look on the edge of the cover.

Finally, I made a title on the cover by using one of the cut aparts and stencilling the word 'adventure' with the Tim Holtz Traveler Stencil and Dina Wakely Acrylic Paint. I created some shadows using a uniball white gen pell and called it done!

Here is the finished folio. I had so much fun creating this memory folio and I love all the little fold outs and pockets. I hope you've been inspired to create your own project with this month's kit.
