Coming to Town - Christmas Tree Shaker Decoration By Sammy

Christmas Tree Shaker Decoration
By Sammy
Hello Everyone,

For the month of December I am going to take a back seat in making or creating any projects for Aunty Vera and let my grandson Sammy have free reign of the creative projects. Sammy, aged 7 yrs old, has been wanting to create something for Aunty Vera for a few months now and I thought during the month of December would be a great time for him to show us what he can do and have fun making some Christmas projects.I did supervise as he wanted to use the hot glue gun and cutting blade and I was very surprised how great he used them...

Samuels' first project was to decorate and put together this shaker tree shaped decoration from Clearscraps. The first thing he did was to trace aroung the base of the tree on to the green piece of card from the Echo Park 'A Cozy Christmas' Corordinating cardstock pack. He then used scissors to cut the tree shape out.

He then used a wet glue to paste the cut out tree shape card on the base.

He then grabbed the two centre edging pieces and glued them together and waited for them to dry.

After the glue had dried, he painted the edges of the two pieces he glued together a purple (why??....because it's nanny's favourite colour...lol) and then he painted the front edge piece in two shades of green, a dark to lighter green.

Only the very outer edge was painted on the two pieces that make up the center of the shaker.

While Sammy was waiting for the paint to dry, he had to grab the awesome gel pens Aunty Vera had sent him and have himself a draw.
He thinks these pens are the 'so very best' to draw with!!
Thank you Aunty Vera xox

So, when the paint was dry Sammy glued a piece of string on the top of the base piece.

He then glued the center pieces on top of the base, making sure to loop the string to the top, so he can hang his tree. He also used a coule of strong clamps to hold the pieces together until the glue dried.

Sammy found a present sticker and put it on the base piece.

When the glue had dried he added the clear and green jewel and sequins from Jillibean in the center of the framed tree. He then added glue to the top flat edge and placed the clear acrylic piece on and then glued on the top piece he painted two toned green.

Placed a couple of clamps on the edges and let dry.

To finish off his Shaker tree decoration, he used some glue glitter from nans' supplies and added it to the front edges.

Sammy loves the way his Shaker Tree Ornament turned out and can't wait to place it on his own Christmas tree.

Message from Sammy....
