It's a Brand New Day - Gina's Coffee Pod Holder

A big welcome to new team member Gina who shares her first project with us today - a super cute coffee pod holder. What a great gift idea for a coffee loving friend! These would look fabulous on the kitchen bench next to the coffee machine!

Hey everyone I'm so excited to be sharing my first project on the blog here for Aunty Vera aka the evil enabler. I hope you enjoy my projects and we get to know each other better as the months go by.

One of my favourite things to do is to reuse, recycle and repurpose things. My husband has a coffee machine in the office and I buy him the mixed pack of different coffee pods but he doesn't like some of them so I have these opened boxes with only 1 or 2 pods used and it doesn't look too nice giving them away like that so I thought I'd make a holder for them.

For the base, I've used the Echo Park Coffee teal/pink cardstock cut at 8 1/2" x 11"

Place the 11" side against the top of your scoreboard and score at 4", 6 1/4", 8 1/4" and 10 1/2"

Now turn it so that the 8" side is at the top and score at 2" and 6 1/2", doesn't matter which side because you are scoring them at 2" from the end both sides

Cut off the four corners that I have marked with an X in the picture. I've turned it around to the pink side so you can see them clearly.
Cut the top lip and the middle flaps at an angle as marked in the picture and round the corners on the big flap at the bottom.

Now mark where you would like to have the holes on the top flap below the lip. I've put mine about 1.5 cm away from the sides and 1.2 cm from the top and bottom of the flap.

Either punch or die cut the circles. I've used a 1 1/4" circle die. I've also used an embossing folder and embossed the large flap at the bottom. Towards the top and center of the large flap I've used a label die to make a handle for the box. Fold the box so each outer flap goes over the next one with the last flap on the outside being the one near the large flap. Bit hard to explain but the picture should help.

Next I've made a ring to go around the holes in the tray using my 1 1/4" and 1 1/2'' inch dies with the Echo Park ''Coffee Cups'' paper. I cut a 1 7/8 '' strip from the ''Coffee Cups'' paper to go around the front and sides of the box and because I found that the back wasn't sturdy enough, I used the same paper to line the back.

I then stamped the takeaway coffee cup from the Picket Fence Studios ''Coffee Understands'' stamp onto Kraft paper. I cut little bits of the ''Coffee Cups'' paper to make holders for the takeaway coffee cups and stuck them on.
I die cut a 1 1/2'' circle on the pink cardstock and used an eraser to give the paper a distressed look. Then I stamped the lady and the ''good to the last drop'' stamps from the same stamp set on the circle. I also cut out the word ''Coffee'' which is on the bottom strip of each paper and inked the edges.
I stuck all of them to the front of the box and raised the takeaway coffee cups. I used a little die cut from the ephemera pack in the top corner of the circle and fussy cut some flowers from the ''Coffee cups'' paper which I placed in the middle of each coffee cup.

For the sides of the box I used a page from the 6x6 paper pad which had these squares, perfect size for the sides. I stuck one of the white ''Prima Marketing Amelia Rose flowers - Collected'' near the handle. The ''I love coffee a lot'' sentiment is from the Echo Park Coffee Ephemera die cut pack as well.
